Canterbury Province is holding a gathering for all members on Saturday, 22nd June 2024 at The King’s Centre in Oxford. This is going to be a wonderful opportunity to meet members from across the province; share information about what we are doing in our local dioceses; enjoy fellowship; and worship together. There will be plenty of time during the day for socialising and to have some fun too. The event is open to all members and you are welcome to bring friends with you; what great way to learn about Mothers’ Union.

Due to popular demand, we are delighted to offer another online Understanding Christianity course, commencing 20 March 24

The course aims to develop pupils’ understanding of key concepts in Christianity, as a contribution to their understanding of the world and their own experience within it. This 3-session course will give teachers full access to this outstanding resource and nationally recognised system of learning in RE.

Each session will include setting teachers a ‘gap task’, trialling an aspect of the resource in school. Feedback and discussion on these ‘gap tasks’ will be included in each following session, so that teachers can share ideas and learn from each other’s experiences.

A new guide explaining how Christians can get involved in COP28 published by the Church of England

At 8am every morning during COP28, from 30 Nov to 12 Dec, there will be 10 minutes of prayer and reflection, focusing on the theme of the day. This will be on Zoom and led by our chaplain, Revd Andrew Norman.

The aim of the society is to ensure that the Book of Common Prayer is used and honoured, available for worship wherever it is desired.

This resource is based on the “Stations of the Cross”. It takes churches and individuals on a journey throughout Lent, challenging them to move from the side-lines to action. It can be used in in-person small groups, individual study or online.

Throughout this year, the Diocese of Truro will be running a series of five workshops on the theme of Net Zero 2030: Cut Carbon, Cut Costs. The workshops will be a mix of online and in-person sessions. You are welcome to join us for one, some or all. Booking is separate for each one. The first one takes place in February. Generosity week is a week focussed on generosity, aiming to encourage and inspire, and nurture a culture of generosity in the church. FIKA is a Swedish term meaning to gather together for sharing, discussion and cake! It is a half day programme, for groups to explore God's generosity to us, biblical generosity and generosity around the world. Through short films, reflections and discussion we can be inspired and encouraged to live more generous lives. FIKAs can be an enormously effective way of developing a generous culture within your church.

Here you will find some excellent resources to help you encourage generosity as discipleship in your church. There are resources for individual and group bible study, preaching and retreats or focus days.

Through the CPO website you can order free resources such as leaflets and bookmarks to promote and encourage legacy giving, and a legacy toolkit which contains a draft legacy policy for your church and a variety of leaflets and resources. There is also the opportunity to personalise some of these leaflets for your church.

The Church of England has partnered with Farewill, the UK’s favourite will writer, to offer a free online will writing service which you can do from the comfort of your home in less than 30 minutes. The Diocese of Truro has received a number of free wills through this scheme and you can use one of these by following the link below, or entering the code ‘TRURO-DIOCESE’ at the check-out. Making a will and keeping it updated is the only way to make sure your wishes are carried out after your death, giving you peace of mind that you can continue to support the family, friends and charities you love.

Each year around 4,000 people leave a gift in their will to their church, funding mission projects, maintaining beautiful church buildings and growing faithful communities. This can be a final opportunity to say thank you to God for all he has given to us. This webinar wills look at how and why we may encourage will writing and legacy giving in our churches. It covers the resources available to write a legacy policy, plan a legacy campaign and help people with will writing, and introduces a new free will writing scheme.

Bereavement services across Cornwall have united to create a new Cornwall Bereavement Network website and helpline.
In response to COVID-19, organisations from across Cornwall have been meeting virtually to accelerate their plans for a joined-up approach to bereavement services across Cornwall, so that people who suffer the loss of a loved one can quickly and easily find information.
Around 85 organisations have already signed up to the network including counselling services, hospice care, funeral services, NHS and council services, support groups, faith groups, and professional support services.

The Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme gives grants that cover the VAT incurred in making repairs to listed buildings in use as places of worship. The scheme covers repairs to the fabric of the building, along with associated professional fees, plus repairs to turret clocks, pews, bells and pipe organs.

The course will cover the basics of the most popular social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram; How to set up a social media account; Using a social media account for personal and/or parish use; Internet safety; Dealing with negative attention and a brief introduction to analytics. This course is best run in small groups and your own laptop or mobile device will be needed. This course is available 1-to-1.

This short 45 minute session is aimed anyone who is using the internet and email either as a first timer or regular user looking for a refresher. It is suitable for PCCs, parish teams, congregations, or church groups.

The hope is to provide some support, encouragement, information, flag up training opportunities, and create a place for us to be in touch with one another. Supporting schools through prayer

Through research and testing resources, the Church of England is discovering how repeated invitations really encourages people to come back to church. The best news in the research is that families want and expect churches to keep in touch with them.

All children's and youth work carried out under the authority of the PCC will need to be covered by the parish guard policy (Ecclesiastical Insurance) or your PCC insurer if not Ecclesiastical. If children's or youth work is not, or cannot be, overseen by the PCC, further advice will need to be sought.

What speed does God move at? That is the question we were asked to ponder during the seven week course “Live Godspeed”. The title comes from the theologian N.T. Wright who explains that as God came to us in the incarnated Jesus in first century Galilee, God’s speed is a walking pace. In other words we need to “slow down to keep up with God”, to live our lives in the moment and to be present to our surroundings and the people around us in a way that isn’t possible if we are swept along by 21st century hurry and anonymity … as pastor and theologian Eugene Peterson says, “there is no place on earth without the potential for unearthing holiness”.
