In Matthew 26: 1-16, we see people looking for opportunities; two of them with malice a forethought (the scribes and Judas) but a third, Mary, wanting to be a blessing. Today’s 3 Small Steps are inspired by this passage and will help us to act with abundant generosity.

“Change can often be uncomfortable. These 3 small steps will help us to recognize our fears and objections and allow us to embrace and partake in the working out of new beneficial practices."

Today, in 3 Small Steps, we take a closer look at those characters and see that, whatever your circumstances, God can bless you with his gift of generosity to make you a blessing to others.

“Give as freely as you have received”. These instructions of Jesus to his disciples were immediately followed by: “Don’t take any money in your money belts…”. So, what was it then, that they were supposed to give? These 3 small steps serve to remind us that our lives contain something of far greater value than simply currency and we are to freely share it with others.

"God loves a cheerful giver”, was Paul’s message to the church at Corinth, encouraging them to make positive decisions about their giving. How do we keep giving and stay cheerful about it in the current economic climate? These 3 small steps may help.

Jesus said, “You do not have because you do not ask”. Of course, He was speaking of presenting our requests to God first and receiving divine intervention. The principle of asking and receiving from others is no different and these 3 Small Steps will focus your requests.

The scripture says, “Seek the Lord while He may be found,” which can be easier than locating some of our Cornish churches! We have some marvellously situated buildings in idyllic spots but, how to find them? Here are 3 small steps to putting your church on the map and giving a great first impression.
