The Bishop of Truro

The Rt Revd David Williams

The Rt Revd David Williams was consecrated in 2014. Prior to coming to Truro, David was the Bishop of Basingstoke from 2014 – 2025.

Ordained in 1989, David began his ministry as a curate in Ecclesall, Sheffield Diocese. He was a priest in Dore before being appointed Rural Dean of Ecclesall in 1997. In 2002 he became the vicar of Christ Church in Winchester and was made an honorary canon of Winchester Cathedral in 2012.

David is married to Helen and the couple have grown-up children.


The Bishop of St Germans

The Rt Revd James Treasure

The Rt Revd James Treasure was consecrated in May 2026. James was ordained priest in 2017. From 2018, James served as Vicar and Resource Church Leader at St Thomas and St Luke’s in Dudley. In 2023, James became Team Rector for the wider Dudley parish.

James is married to Esther, who is a curate, and they have three young adult sons.

The Archdeacon of Cornwall

The Ven Clive Hogger

The Ven Clive Hogger was installed as the Archdeacon of Cornwall in June 2024.

Clive studyed Philosophy at the University of Sheffield at the end of the 1980s. In the mid ‘90s he trained as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. Having loved working with some of the most stigmatised and impoverished people in society in London, Birmingham and Coventry, God called Clive to move on from his nursing career to ordained ministry, and he was ordained in 2009. In 2023 he graduated from Cardiff University with a Master’s degree in canon law.


The Interim Dean of Truro

The Revd Canon Ali Hogger Gadsby

Revd Canon Ali Hogger Gadsby was installed as the Dean of Truro on May 10, 2026.

Canon Ali is currently the Dean of Ministry at St Mellitus College, with national oversight of ministry, formation, worship and pastoral life, including being the safeguarding lead. She is also the Dean of Women’s Ministry in this diocese.

Ali was a Registered Mental Health Nurse and led a team specialising in crisis intervention. Since ordination, she has served as a secondary school chaplain and as an inner-city parish priest in an incumbency in the Diocese of Coventry. Ali has lived in Cornwall since 2024, having moved here as her husband was appointed to a new role.


Diocesan Secretary

Revd Canon Simon Cade

Simon came to the Diocese of Truro as a parish priest in 2005. From 2014 to 2020, Simon held the post of Diocesan Director of Education & Discipleship. Simon took up the post of Diocesan Secretary in summer 2020.
