Salary: £27,500 per annum
Contract: Three-year fixed term, full-time (35 hours per week)
Responsible to: Kerrier Rural Dean (Team Rector)

About the Role:
The Pastoral Care Lead will develop and implement strategies for high-quality pastoral care, build and organise teams of volunteers, and support the development of lay ministers. You will work closely with the Rural Dean to create structures for delivering pastoral care across the deanery, ensuring that the specific needs of different communities and congregations are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Bereavement Care: Develop relationships with funeral directors, coordinate clergy for funerals, and support bereavement care teams.
Care for the Sick and Housebound: Identify and coordinate pastoral visits and home communions, establish and train volunteer teams, and maintain a prayer diary.
Training, Safeguarding, and Best Practice: Oversee safeguarding procedures, support clergy in pastoral care, and provide pastoral care training for the developing deanery ministries including Fresh Expressions.
Ministry Team Responsibilities:
Leading and preaching at Sunday services either as a Priest or a Lay Minister
Attend Chapter and Deanery meetings.
Communicate issues around rural poverty and social isolation.
Ensure adherence to Safeguarding and Health and Safety procedures.
Person Specification:
Essential: Diploma-level qualification or equivalent, experience managing volunteers, experience in pastoral care with empathy and emotional intelligence, successful church ministry experience, team player, self-starter, excellent administrative and communication skills, access to own transport.
Desirable: Full clean driving licence and own vehicle, understanding of rural life, experience in securing grant funding, ordained minister in the Church of England.
