The Bishop of St Germans & Acting Diocesan Bishop
The Rt Revd Hugh Nelson
The Rt Revd Hugh Nelson was consecrated on July 15, 2020 by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Justin Welby, at Lambeth Palace Chapel, London.
Bishop Hugh studied theology at Worcester College, Oxford. He joined L’Arche London where he served for 13 years taking on a range of roles including director of the L’Arche London community, as chair of the group responsible for L’Arche’s relationships with the UK church denominations, and for L’Arche International on the team responsible for renewing the vision and strategy of the Federation of 80 communities worldwide.
Bishop Hugh left L’Arche in 2007 to train for ordination at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, and then served his curacy in the Medway area in Canterbury Diocese before his appointment as parish priest of St Mary’s, Goudhurst and Christ Church, Kilndown in the Diocese of Canterbury in 2012.
Bishop Hugh is also the Church of England’s Bishop to the Armed Forces.
Bishop Hugh is married to Lizzie and they have four children.

The Archdeacon of Cornwall
The Ven Clive Hogger
The Ven Clive Hogger was installed as the Archdeacon of Cornwall in June 2024.
Clive studyed Philosophy at the University of Sheffield at the end of the 1980s. In the mid ‘90s he trained as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. Having loved working with some of the most stigmatised and impoverished people in society in London, Birmingham and Coventry, God called Clive to move on from his nursing career to ordained ministry, and he was ordained in 2009. In 2023 he graduated from Cardiff University with a Master’s degree in canon law.

The Ven Kelly Betteridge
Archdeacon Kelly arrived in the diocese in May 2021. Kelly was previously the vicar of St Nicolas Parish Church in Nuneaton and Priest in Charge of St James Church, Weddington and Caldecote.
Kelly graduated in 1992 with a degree in education and theology. As well as experience in youth, children & families work, Kelly also worked for the Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS) where she was involved in training and consultancy work with leaders, writing resources and shaping policy relating to children’s ministry. She then became the society’s Intergenerational Church specialist. Having completed her MA in contextual theology in 2010, she was priested in 2011.
The Dean of Truro
The Very Revd Canon Simon Robinson
Revd Simon Robinson was installed as the Dean of Truro on January 21, 2024.
Canon Simon was previously Vicar of Minehead and has a long history, prior to ordination, of senior leadership in the education sector. He has also been the Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education for the Diocese of Bath and Wells and sits on Diocesan and General Synod and various trust boards, both church and community. In 2021 he completed the Strategic Leadership Development Programme, a five-year programme for clergy identified as potential future leaders on a strategic and senior level. He is a national selector for candidates for ordination.
Diocesan Secretary
Revd Canon Simon Cade
Simon came to the Diocese of Truro as a parish priest in 2005, and since 2014 has been Director of Education & Discipleship. Simon took up the post of Diocesan Secretary in summer 2020.
