The Episcopal College of the Diocese of Truro has decided not to appoint any of the candidates interviewed this week for the office of Archdeacon of Cornwall.

Bishop Philip said: “Although each of the candidates displayed a range of gifts and abilities, we did not feel that any one of them matched closely enough what we believe we need in the coming months and years.

“We realise that this will be a disappointment to many within the archdeaconry – and especially to Archdeacon Audrey, who is currently acting Archdeacon of Cornwall and bearing her increased responsibilities with her customary dignity.

“We will be giving a lot of thought between now and Christmas as to how we go about finding the right person to fill this hugely important role. I would ask you to join us in praying that we are soon successful in finding the right individual to join us in our mission to discover God’s kingdom and grow the church.”
