TruroApril22 Over 300 people attended Truro Cathedral on Maundy Thursday for the Chrism Eucharist.
The service began with the clergy proceeding up the main aisle of the Cathedral. Readings were undertaken by Rebecca Evans, the diocese Stewardship and Mapping Adviser and Sophie Eddy, the diocese Director of Finance and Assets.
The Very Reverend Roger Bush, Dean of Truro then gave the sermon before members of the clergy then renewed their ordination vows, dedicating themselves to the service of Christ and his people. Following this, the clergy were joined by the Readers and congregation in committing themselves to a life of Christian Discipleship.
There were a number of hymns sung during the service including ‘The Gloria in excelsis’ and ‘Agnus Dei’.
The service also included the Blessing of the Oils, following the custom of the early church. Bishop Tim blessed the oils which are used in baptism, confirmation, ordination and anointing of the sick.
At the end of the service, everyone was invited to come to the front and receive prayer and be anointed with the Oil of Chrism.

A full set of photos from the service are available on our facebook page Truro Diocese.
