To celebrate the ministry of women and to pray for their continued ministries and a creative future of inclusive ministry, a service of celebration and thanksgiving was held in Truro Cathedral this week.

Planned to mark the 30th anniversary of the first ordination of women as priests, the service saw some of those first female priests gather joined by more recently ordained priests. Over the past 30 years, many women have followed in the footsteps of those who were first ordained. They have led and inspired men and women in their faith and brought vision and wisdom into the church and the varied and diverse communities that they have served in and led.

Truro Cathedral Choir girl choristers sang at the service with music from women composers. The service was led by Canon Sue Wallace and Canon Jane Vaughan-Wilson and interpreted into British Sign Language by Revd Elizabeth Foote.

Before the service there was the opportunity for people to gather in the North Transept for tea.
