Do you have what it takes to help drive up standards in Cornwall’s schools?
Three new trustees are being sought by Askel Veur, the ‘umbrella trust’ that is the standards and academies arm of the Truro Diocesan Board of Education.
The existing board members are particularly keen to recruit people with some experience of the leadership of teaching schools, school inspection, initial teacher training, and education research.
Askel Veur is committed to a child-centred and holistic view of education, informed by – but not driven solely by – data.
The trust is a significant partner in school improvement for Cornwall and works directly with the 44 Church schools in the diocese, and increasingly with community schools through mixed, multi-academy trusts.

Chair of Askel Veur, Dr Sue Brounlow, said: “If you are sympathetic to our vision of Christian education and would like to use your skills and experience at board level to help us improve the standards of education or children across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, we would very much like to hear from you.”
Further information about Askel Veur and the role of trustees is available below and in the education section of the diocesan website at www. trurodiocese.org.uk
If you are interested in knowing more about this opportunity, you can get in touch with Bex Couch, Governance Development Officer with the diocese, on bex.couch@truro.anglican.org, and include a very brief summary of your relevant experience. She will then arrange an initial phone conversation with Dr Brounlow to explore the opportunity further.
The closing date is Friday, January 12, 2018.
