Bishop’s Chaplain licensed in Newquay
The Revd Jem Thorold has been licensed as Priest in Charge of Newquay and Associate Priest of St Columb Minor and St Colan at a service in the Parish Church of St Michael the Archangel, Newquay.
There was a full house to see Jem installed by the Bishop of Truro, the Rt Revd Tim Thornton and the Bishop of St Germans, the Rt Revd Chris Goldsmith. The service also marked the end of Jem’s role as the Bishop’s Chaplain, a position he has held for five years.
Joining Jem’s family and the congregation for the licensing were fellow clergy and friends as well as representatives from the local community.
Newquay Male Voice Choir performed two songs during the service and the church’s own choir sang John Rutter’s A Clare Benediction. Reader Margaret Hill read the first Lesson from Romans 12. 1-12.
Following the service, those attending were invited to enjoy refreshments in the Church Hall.
