COP29

You may be interested to view in our resources below a COP29 – post event summary which has been prepared by Jo Chamberlain, National Environment Officer, Church of England Environment Programme, aided by Martha Jarvis from the Anglican Communion office and Rachel Sowerby, environment research for Bishop Graham.

UN Climate Change Conference, COP29, is being held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 11 – 22 November 2024.  The principal focus of the COP29 Climate Change conference will be on agreeing the provision of the necessary finance to tackle climate change and seek to keep global warming to  1.5 degrees Centigrade above pre-industrial levels. It will also look forward to next year when all countries are called on to increase their carbon reduction commitments. These  issues are particularly critical for countries in the global south already suffering hugely from climate change, though they have done least to cause it.
