Parish Safeguarding Officers from across the diocese have been invited to a service of celebration and thanksgiving at Truro Cathedral in December.

Parish Safeguarding Officers (PSOs) are volunteers who give their time and energy to creating a safer church for all. The service is intended to thank them for their service but also raise awareness of the vital part they play in their communities.

Andy Earl, Head of Safeguarding and Diocesan Safeguarding Officer, said: “This day recognises the critical work PSOs do and is an opportunity for us all to say ‘thank you’. By getting people together, we can also consider what we can all do to make our churches safer.

“While Parish Safeguarding Officers provide the vital link between the life of the parish and the Diocesan Safeguarding Team, they are not alone in their task. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.”

The event takes place at Truro Cathedral on Thursday, December 5 from 10am – 1pm.
