Children of St Maddern’s Primary School get stuck In2 the Bible
Children at St Maddern’s Church of England Primary School in Penzance have taken up the Bishop’s Challenge and are getting In2 the Bible. What better way to read the Bible than with friends?
St Maddern’s is one of Cornwall’s oldest schools, founded in 1704, and cherishes its Christian ethos, taking to heart what Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Each child is given their own Bible when they begin at St Maddern’s, taking it with them when they leave. “The children loved delving into their Bibles”, said Matthew Turner, the school’s administrator. “They were all taken aback though when we were talking about Jesus turning over the tables in the Temple – especially when the money flew in the air!”
If your school has taken up the Bishop’s Lent Challenge, let us know. We’d love to hear your stories, especially about how children think about praying and the Bible.
