A commissioning and recommissioning of Local Worship Leaders and Local Pastoral Ministers for the deanery of Pydar took place at St Eval Church in May.

Revd Helen Baber from the Lann Pydar Benefice welcomed 18 Local Worship Leaders and eight Local Pastoral Ministers for the service which included Local Pastoral Minister Pat Walton reading prayers that she had devised and readings and liturgy by Local Worship Leaders Steve Irwin, Jan Edwards, Ron Holland and Mike O’Connor.

Five Local Worship Leaders from Newquay Churches and Atlantic Coast Cluster were newly commissioned by Archdeacon Audrey and 13 from St Enoder and St Newlyn East, Atlantic Coast Cluster and Lann Pydar Benefice were recommissioned.

Archdeacon Audrey also recommissioned seven Local Pastoral Ministers and commissioned one new Local Pastoral Minister.

Following the service, there were refreshments and cakes served in the hall.

Local Worship Leaders and Local Pastoral Ministers are recommissioned every five years. Plans are underway for deanery services across the diocese to celebrate the calling and recommissioning of these very special ministries. The next service will take place in Penwith Deanery in June.
