Cornwall Councils Wellbeing and Public Health Team has established a funding opportunity for existing or new voluntary and community organisations and charitable groups to pilot a programme that extends the offer of free school meals to children and families during the school summer holidays.

The funding scheme seeks to understand how this can be achieved by inviting groups and organisations to run projects that provide an activity (there are no restrictions on this, can be a physical activity or art/craft based) and a nutritious meal for children and families. The scheme recognises that flexibility is important and innovation is encouraged, applications that involve partnership working are welcome as are projects that can engage the community or demonstrate other benefits to individuals or families wellbeing.

A total of £20,000 is available, the maximum any single organisation can apply for is £3300 (there is no minimum) and applications should equate to no more than £5 per child.

The council is seeking proposals from interested community groups, voluntary and charitable organisations that can deliver a series of activity based sessions during the school summer holiday period of July 24 to September 4, 2018 that provide a free nutritionally balanced meal and an activity for children and families.

Interested projects need to complete an application form and return it before the deadline of June 1, 2018.
