Mzimvubu

The Diocese of Truro has had a link with the Diocese of Mzimvubu in South Africa since 2000 when the then Bishop of St Germans visited the diocese.

Mzimvubu diocese is one that has long experienced poverty, partly caused by the prevalence of HIV-Aids.  Covid-19 exacerbated this problem. Children who were orphaned due to HIV/AIDS found themselves orphaned again as their grandparents who cared for them died.

Climate change is also adding to their problems, with many crops being washed away by heavy rain.

The Diocese of Truro, through regular faithful givers has long supported work to provide food and school uniforms for vulnerable children and families. Now with the new leadership of Bishop Tsietsi and his team the church in Mzimbuvu are continuing to work hard to support these families in this way as well as through pastoral support, and being a witness to the love of God in their community.

Below you will find more information about the project, and points for prayer for the Diocese of Mzimvubu.
