Board of Patronage
The Board of Patronage holds the right of patronage for some parishes in the diocese. The members will be asked occasionally to consider requests relating to this patronage. It meets roughly once a year and may make decisions online.
We are currently running a casual vacancy election to this board for:
House of Clergy: 3 members
House of Laity: 4 members
The clergy and lay members are elected by the separate Houses of the Diocesan Synod.
Those eligible for election are:
- Any Clerk in Holy Orders beneficed in or licensed to any parish in the Diocese is eligible to stand for election to the Board. Archdeacons in the Diocese are not qualified to be elected.
- Any lay person aged 16 + and a communicant member of the Church of England is eligible to stand for election to the Board.
Nomination forms, instructions for complete of forms and more about the Board can be found below.
Candidates for the Board of Patronage may set out, in no more than 100 words, a factual statement (for circulation with the voting papers) of their professional qualifications, present office and any relevant past experience. Such statements should be sent to April Bullard with the candidate’s nomination form, and will be circulated to voters in the event of an election. It would be helpful if they could be provided in electronic format.
The deadline for nominations is midnight on July 20, 2025.
