Session 1: Mixed Ecology Church and the Missio Dei
Bishop Mike Harrison will be kicking off the day with an introduction to the Mixed Ecology Church, and his take on pioneering and fresh expressions.
+Mike is the Church of England's board member for Fresh Expressions UK, and has previously held roles that have included visionary leadership in growing the mission of local parishes ... developing missional leadership, pioneer ministry and fresh expressions of church.
Session 2: Jesus the Pioneer of Pioneers
Come and look at Jesus through a fresh set of lenses: Jesus is ‘the pioneer and perfector of our faith’ (Hebrews 12:2). What does that mean for us as we seek to reach a wider range of people in our parishes with the gospel?
A morning of discussion on how to start stuff in the flow of the Holy Spirit and in partnership with the local community, finding out what God is doing in your neighbourhood and joining in. Learn how the church can be guest and host at the same time and open space for faith conversations to arise naturally.
Our main speaker in the morning is the Revd Tina Hodgett. Tina Hodgett is a pioneer, priest, and increasingly an elder and advocate committed to fostering an ecosystem where the existing time-honoured forms of church and emerging expressions of church flourish together. She has a track record of catalysing newness and is leader of the Southwest Hub in Pioneer Mission, co-creator of the Pioneer Spectrum and co-founder of a small start-up training organisation called Pioneering Parishes. She has birthed baby churches and playful missional events such as Gospel Cocktails. She has a reputation as an inspiring speaker and blogs at https://tinahodgett.net/. She is also very good at losing her belongings, mis-managing her calendar and getting frustrated when things don’t work out the way she hoped.
Afternoon Sessions
Workshops in the afternoon will include contributions from pioneers in the South West, as well as the Church Mission Society and Hazelnut Community Farm, a pioneering project in Bristol Diocese.
Hazelnut Community Network
Hazelnut Community Farm is a worshipping community that has social innovation, economic inclusion, political and spiritual transformation at its heart all looking at how to connect with creation and address the reality of the climate emergency.
The Church Mission Society
The Church Mission Society (CMS) is an British Anglican society working with Christians around the world. Founded in 1799, CMS has attracted over nine thousand men and women to serve as mission partners during its 200-year history.
