with Revd Dr John Harrod
In the 1970s in particular it was common for Christians to feel a sense of unease over how badly the church has handled the subject of sexuality. The ‘liberation’ of the 1970s needed to happen. But forty years later all is not well.
Arguably our modern society treats sexuality just as badly as has the church in the past – but in different ways, and bringing its own brand of misery.
Perhaps there are insights in the Christian tradition we need to recover, and yet are we prevented from doing this because the church still seems to have ‘a thing’ about sex?
Moreover, there remain deep disagreements within the church – some of which are in danger of damaging the church’s credibility.
Come to the study day to share in a conversation about these issues – facilitated by input from the leader.
Revd Dr John Harrod is a retired Methodist Minister and former Principal of Hartley Victoria Methodist College.
