When I was asked to do this a few verses from an old hymn by Joseph Addison sprang to mind.

When all Thy mercies, O my God
My rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view, I’m lost
In wonder, love and praise.

Unnumbered blessings to my soul
Thy tender care bestowed.
Before my infant heart conceived
From whom those comforts flowed.

When in the slippery paths I ran
In childhoods careless days,
Thine arm unseen conveyed me safe
To walk in adult ways.

Through every period of my life
Thy goodness I’ll pursue,
And after death in distant worlds
The glorious theme renew.

I had the privilege of being born into a Christian home where I was taught about God’s love for me, and to pray and read the Bible. It’s so easy to soak up things that you are taught by people who love you, but inevitably as I grew older I had to sort out what I really believed. As I did this by listening to others and reading God’s word, I came to realise for myself that it was true. God does love me unconditionally in spite of the times I let Him down. He has been there for me in all the ups and downs of life and still is.

I have been very fortunate to live in a country that is at peace. I have a loving family, somewhere to live, food and clothes for which I am very grateful to God and try not to take it for granted. Best of all I have Jesus who died to save me from sin and make me a Child of God, who will always be with me and guide me until my time comes to be with Him for eternity.

He promises to do the same for anyone who puts their trust in Him.”
