Are you considering a vocation to Reader Ministry?
The Annual Readers’ Day will be taking place on Saturday 6th May 2017 in Bodmin.
The day is aimed at those who are considering a vocation to Reader Ministry. They are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to complete the three year programme whilst learning the practical aspects in your own parish or benefice and on placement.
The Diocese of Truro is in urgent need of finding more Readers. Caroline Tucker, Secretary to Readers explains:
“Your help is needed in finding new Readers to take over from us – there are 51 Readers over the age of 70 with 15 of these being over 80. There will be a time in the not too distant future, when our older and in some cases not so much older Readers will give up the Scarf.
Many of us were inspired to Reader Ministry by the work of another Reader and it would be wonderful if we could promote our own Ministry to encourage others to take it up as a vocation. Do you know of a member of your congregation who would make a Reader? Maybe there is someone who regularly reads a lesson or intercessions; or is active in others ways and haven’t thought about Reader Ministry. Can you be the person to inspire that person to make the first step?”
