with Revd Canon Pat Robson MBE
Soon after Rome withdrew its troops in 410AD Britain was invaded by large numbers of displaced peoples from Europe. Many Britons fled ahead of the invasion to hide in the valleys of Wales or to make a new home in NW Gaul. The Brits became a refugee people, anxious about the safety of their families, desperate to find land where they could settle in peace and determined to keep their Christian faith alive. Over the next 200 years, while the British Church was cut off from the mainstream church in Europe, it developed some unique customs and beliefs that are still held dear by the British people to this day.
