CMED Course – Grace Davie on ‘Religion in Britain: A Perpetual Paradox’

19th April 2016 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

with Professor Grace Davie

In 1994 Professor Grace Davie produced her well known analysis of ‘Religion in Britain since 1945’ and gave us a definition of British Christianity based on the notion of ‘believing without belonging’ – a definition which subsequently resonated with many people. She has recently produced an update reflecting on her thesis after the passage of 20 years in ‘Religion in Britain: A Perpetual Paradox’. Grace’s seminar, which is limited to a maximum of 25 people, will be based on this publication.

Grace is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of Exeter
Bookings for this seminar need to be made by email to Canon Alan Bashforth at AlanBashforth@trurocathedral.org.uk.

2.30pm Start, 4.30pm Finish.
