Each year Churches Together run the Churches Tent at stand number one at the Royal Cornwall Show.
This year, they’ll be offering a special eve-of-show service at 6.30pm on Wednesday 7th June in the main ring, and will then have their stand open to visitors 8.00am till 6.00pm through all three days of the show, Thursday 8th till Saturday 10th June,
They welcome visitors all day with cups of fairtrade tea and coffee, plus biscuits. There’s no charge for refreshments – though a donation is always gratefully received!
They also have a fairtrade stand, a Christian bookstall and activities for children.
“People come in and have a drink and a chat,” says the Reverend Dom Whitting, vice-chair of this year’s Churches Together Tent Committee. “What’s really nice is that we have people who come back to see us every year, popping in to take a break, sometimes to meet up with people they haven’t seen since last year’s show. Some have a church background, but many don’t.”
Chaplains from the group also go around the show to meet people, and on the hour back at the Churches Tent will say a prayer, offering people a moment of quiet reflection and spiritual togetherness, offering a space of sanctuary and rest from the bustling activity and excitement of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association’s annual show.
Ensuring that children and young people as well as adults are kept safe whilst in our care is an integral part of our diocese life.
