Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) Courses for Adults 2016.
Germoe and Breage are neighbouring churches but very different. Germoe was one of the chapelries of Breage (Cury and Gunwalloe being the others), and is a good place to study the architecture of a local saint’s cult. Breage, the rather larger mother church, has a complete three aisle plan, transepts, and a panneled porch of a West Cornwall-type and also contains the most complete set of wall paintings in Cornwall, which again refer to local saints’ cults. This visit will focus on the art and architecture and compare the architectural fabric of each church.
