As European musical culture spread it was adapted, localised and invigorated by the percussive rhythms of Andean indigenous dance music.
Galliarda explores this explosion of creativity in unique and highly original performance using an arrange of unusual voices and instruments.
Galliarda transports us back to the rich musical cultures of seventeenth century Mexico, Peru and Spain. With guitars, lutes, charangos, recorder and cornets demonstrating the brilliant rhythmic fusion of locally composed and Spanish music whihc took place in cities such as Zacatecas (Mexico) and Potosi (Bolivia).
