Networking and learning at upcoming Leaders event
Local leaders will be in Truro this month to undertake training and enjoy networking as part of the Deanery Learning Event focusing on Lay Leaders.
The event takes place at The Old Cathedral School in Truro on July 17, 10.30am – 3pm to honour and encourage those who have taken on commissioned roles.
This type of event is one of the ways the diocese supports deaneries as required in the Diocesan Plan for Change and Renewal.
The theme during the day will be Local Lay Leaders, and the event will include a variety of talks, activities and opportunities for shared learning and reflection. There will also be training sessions on safeguarding, how to engage with people, and a pasty lunch.
It is hoped the event can encourage and support people entering local lay leadership and encourage more people to join the ministry.
Mary Cooper Brown said she finds being a Local Leader worthwhile.
“The learning days are a good opportunity to meet people from across the diocese. One of the benefits of Sens Kernewek is meeting people you don’t know and learning from them.” – Mary Cooper Brown
Isaac McNish, Head of Ministry at The Diocese of Truro, said: “Local Leaders are vital in the diocese and this is a day to help them meet with others from across the region to connect and learn more from each other.
The learning days take place three times a year and are a way of creating a network for people in the role.
Steven Ellerington, the diocesan Engagement Officer, will be hosting the event.
He said: “I am looking forward to the day where we will be meeting to learn together and develop as a team.”
