The wife of the Bishop of Truro was given a warm welcome to Cornwall with an afternoon tea in Truro.

Helen Williams was invited to The Alverton to meet 14 clergy spouses and partners.

Gary Anderson, who helps organises many of the spouses and partners get togethers, said: “We enjoyed a relaxed couple of hours getting to know Helen and other spouses who had recently arrived in the diocese.

“We look forward to Helen’s ideas and leadership of the group in the months ahead.”

The group, affectionately called Clergy Spice, was set up about three years ago to offer support and provide social opportunities to meet and network.

Every year members are invited to attend both formal and informal events which include evening meals, theatre trips, Christmas wreath making, a Quiet Day, walks and a private tour of the gardens of St Michael’s Mount.

Lizzie Nelson has co-ordinated the programme over the last two years which takes place in different parts of the diocese and often in Truro.
