Over 500 entries for Christmas Card competition
With over 500 entries from 12 schools to the Diocese of Truro Christmas Card competition selecting a winning design was extremely difficult this year.
The judging panel made up of the Bishop of Truro, the Rt Revd Philip Mounstephen, the Bishop of St German, the Rt Revd Hugh Nelson, Director for Schools Katie Fitzsimmons, Diocesan Secretary Simon Cade and local artist Bridget McCauley, spent a great deal of time carefully considering all the entries before Caleb, aged ten, from St Mary’s School in Penzance was selected as the winning artist. His design will now be turned into the Bishop of Truro’s Christmas Card for 2021.
Such was the quality of entries, that Bishop Hugh also selected a design for his card. His choice was created by Amelia, aged nine, and also from St Mary’s School, Penzance.
Both Caleb and Amelia received certificates and a £25 book token each and St Mary’s School received £200 in Amazon vouchers.
A card by Jim, a pupil in year five at Archbishop Benson School in Truro, was selected by Katie Fitzsimmons, Diocesan Director for Schools.
Diocesan Secretary Simon Cade selected a design by Shahdae, aged nine from Duloe School for his card.
The Artist’s Choice design was by Holly, aged ten, from Duloe School.
Jim, Shahdae and Holly also received certificates and a £10 book token each. There were ten highly commended drawings selected and these were awarded by artist Bridget McCauley.
