From St Nonna in Altarnum to St Breaca in Breage and lots in between, the National Churches Trust website tells the stories of our churches from forgotten chapels in farmyards to medieval glazing dating back to 1460. Every church tells a story that needs to be set free, and here’s a great way to do it.

St Neot’s magnificent medieval glazing

The National Churches Trust has just released a whole section on Cornish Churches for ExploreChurches, in the hope of reaching out to tourists and visitors to our beautiful county. Many churches in the Diocese responded to the call a few months ago and now feature on the website in glorious colour and detail.

The website is well done, enticing, easy to navigate and full of interesting information. It even includes a section on Doctor Who. Who knew that the very first Dr Who, William Hartnell, arrived in the TARDIS on the coast of 17th century Cornwall to do battle with pirates and smugglers, hiding out in St Grada church, Ruan Minor?

St Petroc’s, Bodmin, which more than 460 householders donated money or nails to rebuild in 1469-72.

Possibly the simplest parish church in Cornwall, St Winwalo, Tremain

If you would like to be included, there is still time. Email Sarah, from the National Churches Trust, who would be delighted to help.
