You only have to walk through any of Cornwall’s old cemeteries to come across graves that hint at intrigue, adventure and the county’s mining heritage, their stories all lost to the sands of time. This month a new theatre company is aiming to bring those characters back to life by staging magical theatre walks through Redruth’s historic St Euny churchyard.

From May 18 to May 21, Perthi Kov (Cornish for ‘Remember’), a community company that combines the talents of some of Cornwall’s most exciting theatre markers, writers, musicians and actors, will be bringing to life the stories of fascinating characters at rest in the grounds of the ‘mining church’.

Guides will take audience members on a 75-minute journey to meet extraordinary characters in the shadow of Carn Brea, and to travel through time and across the globe, as the residents recall their lives. An exhibition of Perthi Kov’s research, and creative work with community group, WILD, will be in the church to explore, with refreshments, after the show.

Tickets (£8/£6) for Perthi Kov – Until The Day Break are available through Cornwall Riviera Box Office now and must be booked in advance as places are limited.

Tours will be setting off on Thursday (May 18) and Friday (May 19) at 20 minute intervals from 6pm until 7.40pm and on Saturday (May 20) and Sunday (May 21) as well as the evening performances there will also be tours between 2pm and 4pm, again setting off at 20 minute intervals.

The show is suitable for those aged 10 and over and those attending are advised to wear wellingtons or sturdy footwear and weather-proof clothing as the shows will be going ahead even in rain.

With limited parking at the church, parking is advised in the nearby public car park.
