The community of St Mawgan in Meneage are gearing up for their sixth biennial Mawgan Daffodil Festival, which celebrates the delightful daffodil and will feature over 7000 variants of the flower.

Taking place between Saturday 18th February – Monday 20th February from 10.30am – 4.30pm at the 12th century Grade 1 listed church of St Mawgan in Meneage, the festival promises to give all your senses a treat as you enjoy the sight and smell of thousands of daffodils, learn more about the flower and the local industry around the church. The daffodil industry swings into gear early in January with millions of stems being picked every day in Cornwall.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to listen to bell ringing and music performed by local musicians, admire displays of paintings, embroidery and photographs with a daffodil theme.

Tea, coffee and cakes will be available all day every day with pasties and soup served from 12 – 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

 

The Festival is made possible by the donation of daffodils from the Scrimshaw family of R H Scrimshaw and Sons Limited and the church is very grateful not only to them but for sponsorship received or promised from other local companies and organisations. The proceeds will help maintain the church where having achieved a new heating system we now need substantial roof repairs.
