People across the diocese are invited to Truro Cathedral on May 10 to officially welcome the new suffragan Bishop of St Germans and to also witness the installation of the new Interim Dean of Truro.

Bishop David will lead the welcome and induction of the soon to be Rt Revd James Treasure and he will be helped in this by the new interim Dean of Truro Ali Hogger Gadsby. If that was not enough excitement, the service will also see the creation of two new honorary canons for the cathedral – Revd Keiren Marwood and Tim Pethybridge.

‘Stable base’

These announcements mark the completion of the Bishop’s Leadership Team, one year after his arrival in the diocese. Bishop David said: “The life and work of the diocese continue, and these final appointments strengthen an already strong team. It is important that as we work towards fruitfulness and sustainability that we do so from a stable base.”

During the service, as well as formally occupying his ‘cathedra’ – his official seat – James will also preach to those present. Ali will lead the prayers in her first service as the interim Dean.

James is due to be consecrated as a bishop in St Paul’s Cathedral by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Sarah Mullally, on Friday (May 1).

All are welcome

All are invited to the welcome service in Truro which starts at 4.30pm. In addition, the service will be live streamed on the cathedral’s YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.
