Churches encouraged to host primary schools
People are being encouraged to offer up their churches as a venue for Creation Care workshops.
These workshops are an opportunity for church members to share their faith whilst helping teachers fulfil the RE criteria important to their school curriculum.
The workshops premiered in summer 2024 and last year it was revealed more than 1,000 children have taken part in one.
But Clare Green, the diocese’s Schools’ Creation Care Officer, says there are still so many more schools and pupils these workshops can benefit.
She is urging more churches to link up with local schools, which do not need to be church schools, to teach about the bible and inspire looking after our world.
Clare said: “The aim of the workshops are to welcome children and staff into our sacred spaces and give them an understanding of how churches care for God’s creation as well as cover statutory learning objectives.
“Most of the schools which have taken part have been non church schools, so churches participating don’t need to be near a church school.
“The workshops have been designed to be clear enough to run with a minimum number of volunteers, on a low budget and adaptable for a variety of settings.
“We would love to see many churches from across the diocese being used for these workshops in 2026.”
