Church Buildings workshop welcomes national experts
The Diocese of Truro was pleased to host a Church Buildings workshop, led by Church Buildings Support Officer Faye Edwardes.
The event brought together 45 churchwardens and parish officers from across Cornwall for a day of learning, collaboration, and inspiration.
A highlight of the day was a presentation from representatives of the national amenity societies, who shared how their organisations can support churches with repairs, maintenance, and development projects.
Speakers included Catherine Marlow (Historic England), Connor McNeil (The Victorian Society), Catherine Armstrong (The Georgian Group) and Rachel Broomfield (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings).
The workshop also included practical training on the benefits of establishing an annual church maintenance plan, updates on net zero and creation care, and a church buildings quiz to encourage engagement and reflection.
The Church Buildings team is grateful to all who attended and contributed to the day and looks forward to continuing to support parishes in the stewardship of their churches – the historic buildings at the heart of our worshipping communities.
The Church Buildings Support Network offers churchwardens, clergy and parish officers a variety of support including a monthly newsletter, drop-in Q&A zoom surgery, and regular in-person training sessions at Church House. To find out more, please subscribe to the Church Buildings newsletter here
