A heart-shaped crowd has been captured on film to promote a community day in a Cornish village.

Mullion Church, affectionately referred to as ‘the heart of the community’ due to its location in the centre of the village, was also the focal point of the film created by a professional drone operator.A bird's eye view of people, dressed in red, forming the shape of a heart in the grounds of Mullion Church - it is also a bit misty.

Around 130-150 people, dressed in red, were reported to have congregated at the church in the shape of a heart and the completed film was screened at Mullion Church’s Community Open Day called The Heart of Mullion on Sunday (Sept 7).

The piece can also be seen on YouTube.

It was also for people wanting to suggest new ideas on how to improve the lives of those living locally.

Mary Cooper Brown, local worship leader at Mullion Church, said: “The community day started with a service at 10am. We prayed for all the different activities that go on in the church – such as the Tea and Toast event, Lunch Club, coffee mornings and Foodbank.”

After the service refreshments were served until 4pm including tea, coffee, cake and scones. Throughout the day activities included church tours, bell ringing demonstrations and, in the afternoon, wild church.A display advertising tea and toast event.

There were also signup sheets for people in the village to put their names forward for volunteer roles in a number of areas.

Mary said: “Part of the idea of the day was to get more volunteers – 14 people signed up on the day.”

The community day followed a successful, three-day flower festival in August where people in the area were invited to bring flowers they’d grown in their gardens in memory of loved ones.
