The Bishop of Truro has laced up his walking boots again to join the St James’ Way Pilgrimage in north Cornwall.

The full day started at Kilkhampton with prayers and reflections on pilgrimage.

About 30 people attended during the morning where they were handed a small hessian bag with a pebble in it to carry with them.Bishop David Williams and 2 others on the walk with a stony path and shrubbery in the background.

They arrived at St James’ Church, in Jacobstow, ready for a Celtic Eucharist (Communion) Service before moving on to the Holy Well.

Refreshments were served at Boscastle Village Hall in the afternoon before the pilgrimage continued to Minister Church for a Healing Service.

The pilgrimage was open to all, and reflective activities were also provided.

People gathered in woodlands with trees and a stony path reading from paper in their hands.Revd Amanda Evans, Mission Enabler, Stratton Deanery, said: “We had really nice weather, and it was a good day. Bishop David came, and people got to meet him.

“In Kilkhampton, there was a good organist and some rousing hymns. People from across different benefices met during the day for the first time or outside of formal meetings.  It was a real occasion for people making friendships.”

Revd Amanda said they will be organising another pilgrimage for next year and would love to hear from other people who would like to get involved.
