The next Bishop of Truro, David Williams, will be installed at a service of welcome at Truro Cathedral on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11am.

Bishop David is keen for as many people as possible to join him on this special occasion. To ensure anyone who wishes to watch can, the cathedral will be live streaming the event.

The service will see the new bishop formally occupy his ‘cathedra’ – his official seat – and the Dean of Truro, the Very Revd Simon Robinson, will also present him with Bishop Benson’s ‘crosier’, or pastoral staff, a special link with the first Bishop of Truro.

In addition to these formal elements, the service will feature the Cathedral Choir and children from schools across Cornwall. It will offer a joyous and proper Cornish welcome to the new bishop, his wife, Helen and their family as we adventure together to discover the goodness of God and faithfully learn how to live in God’s light.

This will be a significant day in the Diocese of Truro and for the people of Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly and the two parishes in Devon and we look forward to giving Bishop David and Helen a wonderful warm welcome. We do hope you will be able to join us.
