The Church of England’s Executive Director of Education has been in the diocese to see the progress being made by the Flourish Pilots, to hear about the progress of the diocese’s strategic commitments and to give a speech to church school leaders.

Andy Wolfe joined Diocesan Director of Education Lee Moscato and Isla Johnson, Flourish Pilot Lead from The National Society for Education for a visit to St Mary’s School in Truro. Here they were able to see pupils from across the school practising phonics and reading before the trio headed off to meet with diocesan Flourishing Schools Programme Leaders from local churches and schools. There was also an opportunity later in the day to meet with CEOs from Multi-Academy Trusts across the diocese for a discussion on Flourishing and new ventures due to be rolled out in 2025.

Before heading home, Andy joined Lee in leading a Church School Leaders’ Development Day with the theme of Flourishing Adults, Flourishing Schools. Andy delivered a keynote speech which enabled leaders to focus on what it means to flourish in their schools and trusts and how together, we can live out the Church of England’s Vision for Education – to enable our pupils to live life in all its fullness.

Speaking after the visit, Lee said: “It was a joy to welcome Andy to our diocese and see our plans as well as the impact of our work.  It was great to see how encouraged he was with what we’re doing here in our diocese and I’m excited to see how this powerful partnership with the national team can continue to support our mission here.”
