Could teaching in a church primary school be your new future?
Have you ever thought of training to become a primary school teacher?
Celtic Cross Education has planned three open sessions during March and April 2020 for people interested in joining the third intake of its School Direct teacher training programme.
The course entails placements in two contrasting Celtic Cross schools. Trainees will also complete shorter placements within ‘focus weeks’, covering SEND, outdoor education, and church school distinctiveness.
Compulsory university sessions take place at Plymouth Marjon University throughout the year.
Work towards PGCE
To be eligible for the course, people should have a first degree. They then go on to work towards a recommendation of Qualified Teacher Status and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education accredited by Marjon.
Offers of a place are subject to a successful interview, a health check statement, a satisfactory reference, and a DBS check.
Recent, relevant experience in a primary school is desirable but not essential.
Open sessions
The open sessions are being held on:
- Wednesday, March 18, at 6pm, at the trust’s head office in Victoria;
- Wednesday, March 25, at 2pm in Bishop Bronescombe Primary School, St Austell; and
- Wednesday, April 29, at 2pm in St Michael’s Primary School, Helston.
