A group of 19 people have entered the final stretch in their journeys to ordination within the Diocese of Truro and the Church of England.

Eleven individuals who are to be ordained as deacons, and eight deacons who will be priested, enjoyed a lunch at Lis Escop today (Tuesday) hosted by the Rt Revd Philip Mounstephen, Bishop of Truro, and his wife, Ruth. The ordinands and deacons then made their vows of allegiance.

Headed off for retreat

Following the lunch with their family and friends, as well as Bishop Chris, the diocesan director of ordinations, Canon Jane Vaughan-Wilson, and several other clergy and lay representatives of the diocese, the candidates  headed off for a retreat at Epiphany House.

The deacons will be ordained in a service at Truro Cathedral on Friday at 7.30pm, while on Saturday at 10.30am it will be the turn of the priests.
