Living the vision: church schools talk about how they embody values
The education team at the Diocese of Truro has produced a video to show how the values that run throughout the Church of England’s Vision for Education are lived out in our church schools.
In the videos, teachers and pupils talk about their understanding of Community, Wisdom, Hope and Dignity. School leaders discuss how they went about discerning what the values meant to them in a school setting – frequently with the help and involvement of the whole school community. They also talk about how they try and teach their pupils about the values, and how they can demonstrate their understanding both in and out of the classroom.
The film crew went to St Issey, St Francis, Falmouth, St Martin’s, Liskeard, and St Mary’s Penzance to speak to teachers and children.
Significant impact
Jo Osborne, Director of Schools for the diocese, said: “Our aim was to show people how these values are a tangible part of life in church schools and have a significant impact on pupils’ personal and academic development.
“Learning and living these values ensures our children are able to make the most of life – in all its fullness.”
