Representatives from more than 70 organisations gathered in Bodmin for the annual Meet The Funders event, writes parish support and schools’ advisor, Rebecca Evans.

Organised jointly by Transformation Cornwall and the Diocese of Truro, the Meet the Funders programme is now entering its seventh year and continues to be as popular as ever for faith and community organisations throughout Cornwall.

This year’s event was for the first time sponsored by Allchurches Trust and featured presentations and workshops from Big Lottery, Cornwall Historic Churches Trust, Parish Buying/2Buy2, All Churches Trust, Tesco Bags of Help, Joseph Rank Trust, Heritage Lottery Fund, Cornwall Community Foundation, Data Developments, Co-op Local Community Fund and Children in Need.

Average of +£60,000 funding obtained

Back in 2014, some research into the impact of the Meet the Funders programme found that delegates at the main event had on average gone on to successfully apply for funding worth more than £60,000 worth per organisation.  The annual event is followed up by a series of workshops around the county to help organisations to develop their projects, apply for funding, monitor and report on their work, with the aim of enhancing their sustainability.
