No rain could dampen Ordinands’ joy
A bit of Cornish summer mizzle wasn’t going to stop this year’s Ordinands from making their affirmations and oaths ahead of their ordinations this coming weekend.
Aside from a chance to get together and say goodbye to family and friends before they go on a retreat for a few days in preparation for what lies ahead, the Ordinands had to address the legal preliminaries to ordination. Each one, in the presence of Diocesan Registrar, Jos Moule, takes an oath of allegiance to the Sovereign and the oath of canonical obedience to the Bishop.
On hand was retired priest Revd Owen Blatchy, who will be acting as chaplain on the retreat, and Bishop Tim, for whom these will be the last Ordinands in Cornwall in his care before he leaves us next month to take up his post as Bishop at Lambeth.
The Petertide Ordination services are taking place this weekend and all are welcome to come and give their support during these very special services.
