It was a full house at the ‘Meet the Funders’ event at Truro Methodist Church on Wednesday (8th March). Hosted by Transformation Cornwall and the Diocese of Truro, the event attracted over 100 attendees from churches (both Church of England and Methodist), faith based organisations, charities and community groups.

Ten funding bodies took part in the day, presenting an overview of their grants to the group as well as holding workshops and 1:1 sessions with interested organisations.

Debbie Croucher, Development Co-ordinator, Transformation Cornwall, said:  “I’m amazed at the interest in Meet the Funders, it’s our 6th year and seems to go from strength to strength. Today we had over 100 people and 10 Funders. Everyone seems to have found something posited or some useful information. We look forward to delivering our series of follow up workshops in the coming months.”

The sixth annual ‘Meet the Funders’ event including funders such as Lloyds Bank Foundation, Cornwall Community Foundation, BIG Lottery, Joseph Rank Trust, National Churches trust, Cornwall Historic Churches Trust, West Cornwall Youth Trust, Heritage Lottery Fund, Acts 435, Co-op and Cornwall Council Community Chest.

Judith Ayers, an attendee at the event, was amazed by how much she took from the event.  She said:  “I now feel a lot more confident in being able to apply for funding. A very informative day with inspiring and knowledgeable speakers.  All my questions were answered.”

The event in Truro is followed up by a series of workshops taking place at ‘live’ projects across Cornwall which will focus on specific aspects of funding a project. These

    Building a sustainable project: Measuring project outcomes and how to evaluate, monitor and evidence your work.

    Thursday 14th September – Perranporth
    Workshop 1: Developing a project
    How to find evidence for your project and turn those great ideas into reality
  • Wednesday 18th October – Ponsanooth
    Workshop 2 – Applying for funding for a project (for beginners)
    Where to look for potential funding, looking at a basic application and top tips for a good application
  • Thursday 16th November – near Penzance
    Building a sustainable project: Measuring project outcomes and how to evaluate, monitor and evidence your work.
