Bishop Chris’ statement in response to Westminster attack
“The outrage that was committed at the heart of our democracy in Westminster yesterday has left many of us feeling deeply shocked and shaken.
“We pray for all those killed and injured, their families and their loved ones, and also for those who were close by as events unfolded. We are profoundly thankful to all those who risked their own safety to help and protect others, especially PC Keith Palmer.
“Today we also pray for all those who continue to seek peace and justice in our world. As followers of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us reject the division and hatred which is the outlook and the goal of the terrorists. Let us take courage together to refuse to be terrorised, to continue to love our neighbours of all creeds and colours and to overcome evil with good.”
A Collect, for Peace
O God, who art the author of peace and lover of concord, in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedom: Defend us thy humble servants in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in thy defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
