Parish Giving Scheme goes live
We are pleased to announce that the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) is now live for all parishes in the Diocese of Truro to use. Following on from an extremely successful CMED event entitled ‘Money Matters’ which took place in March we have been greatly encouraged by the number of enquiries into PGS that we have decided to go ahead and launch the system as soon as was practical.
For anyone who has not heard about this exciting new opportunity, PGS offers donors the option of processing their giving to parishes through a safe and secure direct debit system. If the donor is eligible to claim gift aid this is done on behalf of the parish in order to improve cash flow and the Gift Aid payments are received by the parish by the 10th of every month. A donor may also choose to be reminded about increasing their giving annually in line with inflation which helps to prevent the problem of static giving.
This professional system, which began in Gloucester diocese and is now quickly spreading throughout the Church of England, has yielded very positive results for parishes not just in terms of the stewardship of giving realistically but also in preventing the topic from being ignored within our churches. The Diocese of Truro is committed to offering this system and there will be no direct charge to parishes to participate.
If you would like information about how to make this available to donors in your parish or to find out more about what is involved please email pgs@truro.anglican.org or phone 01872 360039 to speak to a member of our team.
