Government £15 million roofs scheme for vulnerable listed church buildings
The Chancellor in his Autumn Statement yesterday announced a special £15 million fund for the repair of roofs and rainwater goods on vulnerable listed church buildings.
This new fund is a one-off scheme has the potential to make a significant difference, especially for parishes in financial need facing urgent repairs. The timeframe is tight (eight weeks), but we hope that as many parishes as possible can be encouraged to take up the opportunity, and we will provide you and them with the help needed to act quickly.
The scheme is being administered by the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) and information is now available on a dedicated website: www.lpowroof.org.uk
Grants between £10,000 and £100,000 will be available to listed places of worship where roof and rainwater goods repairs are urgent and necessary. The deadline for submissions is January 30, 2015.
