SUMMARY:AI and the Church - being in the world but not of it
DESCRIPTION:This session will explore the complex relationship between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and faith in a society where AI is increasingly ubiquitous. \nPatricia Shaw will guide participants through a thought-provoking journey examining AI from three critical perspectives:\n• AI in the World;\n• AI in the Church; and\n• AI in our Society.\nAs Christians navigating these technological waters\, the webinar will also provide an opportunity to discuss perhaps some of the benefits and challenges you have already faced\, and discuss how to approach AI with wisdom and discernment. \nThis timely conversation will equip church leaders to engage thoughtfully with AI while maintaining our distinct Christian values and identity. \nPatricia Shaw is CEO of Beyond Reach Consulting Limited advising internationally on AI and data ethics\, policy\, governance\, and law. She has over 20 years’ experience in data\, technology and regulatory/government affairs and is a qualified Solicitor in England and the Republic of Ireland\, and currently chairs the Society for Computers and Law and is on the board of ITechlaw. \nPatricia was a founding member of the Oxford Collaboration for Theology and AI and\nfounder of the Homo Responsiblis Initiative which works with the European Evangelical Alliance. SUMMARY:Exporting Anglicanism: Missionary problems at home and abroad
DESCRIPTION:Mark Chapman will explore some of the problems that emerged in the early years of the twentieth century in the mission field\, with a focus on East Africa. This session will look at how these old disputes continue to affect the Anglican Communion and even the Church of England. \nMark David Chapman is a British Anglican priest\, theologian\, historian\, and academic. He was Vice-Principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon from 2002-2024\, and has been Full Professor of the History of Modern Theology at the University of Oxford since 2015.\nMark is Canon Theologian at Truro Cathedral.
