SUMMARY:CMED Course - Dealing with conflicts in the church
DESCRIPTION:with Revd Canon Keith Lamdin \nPeople say that the church is conflict averse and clergy report that conflicts in church life cause them sleepless stress. \nThis day will explore: \n\nthe kinds of conflicts that emerge in church life\,\nwhy they take up so much energy; and\nstrategies for using conflicts to bring about change and creativity.\n\nThe Revd Canon Keith Lamdin was for 25 years the director of the Board for Stewardship\, Training\, Evangelism and Ministry in the diocese of Oxford\, where he managed a team of 14 trainers and consultants. He led the development of a competency-based modular programme\, validated by Oxford Brookes University\, at undergraduate and post graduate levels. He taught on the Master’s leadership modules. \n Keith then became Principal of Sarum College in Salisbury where he not only exercised a leadership role himself but also specialised in the professional development of clergy\, working as a consultant to senior clergy as well as to senior managers in the field of health care\, education and the voluntary sector. He has launched the MA programme in Christian approaches to Leadership and has been pioneering a programme for women leaders in the church. Keith has recently retired from his post of principal at Sarum and is now spending time helping clergy think about their leadership. \n Keith co-authored a book on supervision skills for those who work with the newly ordained\, and in 2012 SPCK published his latest book Finding Your Leadership Style.  \nNote: This event is a joint CMED/IME Phase 2 (curates) session. \n10am Coffee\, 10.30am Start\, 3.30pm Finish \nClick here to book a place.

DESCRIPTION:Worker’s Educational Association (WEA) Courses for Adults Summer 2016 \nBuilding on classroom learning\, ‘Church Explorers West Penwith’ focuses on the churches of St Levan and St Buryan. St Levan was a chapelry of St Buryan and this is reflected in its simpler architecture and lop-sided plan\, but the quality of its bench ends is as good as any in Cornwall. St Buryan\, by contrast\, is a much larger and architecturally more ambitious church with an exceptional\, if inaccurately\, restored rood screen. DESCRIPTION:with Revd Charles Burgess \nMany in church leadership know that shaping culture is what is required in their context\, but shaping culture is perhaps the most difficult leadership challenge. How do you shape culture but not trash the past? How do you shape culture and not impose personal preferences? How do you change culture and ensure it is lasting and not just until you leave? Combining a strong model for shaping culture with practical tools\, this day explores the questions: \n\nWhat is culture and how is it related to vision?\nWhat sort of culture do you currently have?\nHow can you bring about culture change?\n\nCharles is a leadership specialist with CPAS. He has many years of practical leadership experience both from a career in the RAF and\, in the last seven years\, through his role with CPAS. CPAS currently work with over 20 dioceses in supporting them as they seek to build and strengthen a culture of collaborative leadership\, including developing and enabling vision\, changing culture\, building teams and developing missional leadership. To this end\, Charles facilitates various leadership development events across the UK\, from individual days to longer-term programmes. SUMMARY:St Petroc's 30th Anniversary Service
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 16th July 2016\, Truro Cathedral is to host a Service to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the formation of the St.Petroc’s Society. \nFormed in 1986 at the instigation of the then Bishop of St.Germans ( Bishop Llewellin)\, who responded to the increased numbers of single homeless across Cornwall by creating a charity that would engage and work with all those\, who had no place to call home. \nSt.Petroc’s has retained it’s close links with churches of all denominations with the current Bishop of St.Germans ( Bishop Chris Goldsmith) who is the Society President and the Bishop of Plymouth ( Bishop Mark O’Toole) and President of the Methodist Conference (Rev. Steven Wild) are vice Presidents.

DESCRIPTION:St Luke’s Church Boscoppa are hosting their summer Fayre on 16 July from 2-4pm. They will be having a bouncy castle\, barbecue\, stalls\, face painting\, cake stall being run by Bibles for Schools\, ‘Name The Teddy and Raffle. \nHopefully\, in the absence of emergencies they will also be getting a Fire Pump from the local fire station and a PCSO is coming with their car so its going to be a real community event.
